Your oil log
A dated record of odometer readings and every litre of oil added is the single most useful thing an owner can start today. It turns "it uses a lot of oil" into a number a dealer, a tribunal or a lawyer can work with. Print this page or keep the same columns in your phone.
Measure the same way every time. Engine warm, car on level ground, wait five minutes after switching off, wipe the dipstick, read it twice.
Record every top-up. Date, odometer, litres added, and keep the receipt. Photograph the dipstick and the odometer together when you can.
Note the warnings. Any low-oil light or message, and any conversation with the dealer about it, with the date and the person's first name.
Use the same oil. The grade in your handbook. A log using the wrong grade is the first thing a dealer will point to.

Working out your consumption: litres added ÷ (kilometres driven ÷ 1,000) = litres per 1,000 km. Example: 2.8 L added over 2,000 km is 1.4 L per 1,000 km. Many manufacturers treat up to about 1 L per 1,000 km as within normal; ask the dealer for GWM's written figure and note it here.
